Attached is a lady's photograph. Has photographer as Gale's Studios. And has been done in a postcard. Had to clean some pencil marks off the back and front of the photo with a rubber.

I too have a photo (of a young child) in postcard format.

It isn't mine, I'm helping someone at the Family History Centre.  She unfortunately doesn't have any idea who it is, but I'm hoping someone can help date it.

Again it is Gales Studios, but looks to be an earlier, certainly different format.
Does anyone know when 'communication' changed to 'for correspondence'?

The lady's family were living in the Rotherham and Sheffield areas.

Quick research gives Bertram A Gale founding the company, which later (1928-ish) came under the Jerome company.
Found an address in Sheffield but it doesn't really help with the date of photo.

Going by memory Gale's started in about 1908.
Better if we could see the front for a date.

Looks like 1920's to me

This is the front, doesn't really help though does it.   Definitely rounded corners to the postcard.

Certainly post war so would have to be the 20's.

I couldn't resist as it is a great photo and deserved a clean and there isn't much on the board so had a play. You don't have to have it if you don't want.
