James Lock
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 15:14 GMT (UK) »
On the 1911 UK census James Lock was residing at 10 Tennyson Terrace in the coal mining village of Brithdir in the Rhymney Valley of Glamorgan, South Wales.  His age was recorded as 29 and under the column 'place of birth' was simple written 'Jersey Resident'  I would appreciate any information on this person.  Regards, Roy

Hi Roy

There is an entry in the index for St Helier births for a James Fitzgerald Lock, 11th April 1881 to 4th August 1882, volume 34, page 7.

Hello again Suz
A further check on the 1911 census for 10 Tennyson list a Henry Lock, boarder, age 25 with birthplace of 'Cork resident'  A strange way of recording their birthplace; James Lock and Henry Lock are brothers.  Well done Suz, your entry surely is the correct one.
Best Regards, Roy

Hi Suz
Looking at the birthplaces this family certainly moved around.  I have had a look on familysearch.org [1881] but no luck as yet.

Hi,
Well done

It looks like he was in Portsmouth before Jersey and then Gosport before that -by the birth of the children

This looks a possibility for his marriage

Dec qtr 1877
Fareham
on same page William Lock
Martha Gray

If you put a post on Armed forces section - quoting reg and battallion  someone may be able to give more information on movements
