I am searching Algeos in Canada, Ontario specifically, gggrandmother was Jane Algeo, born in Ontario about 1826, her father I believe to be Lewis Ramage Algeo and mother Mary Armstrong according to family group record from the LDS. This is the frist link I have found to Ireland,  I am still looking for siblings to Jane. Jane Married David  Blair about 1846 in Ontario, Son of Skene Blair and Margaret Kid(Kyd),

Hi -- I am interested in this family -- primarily in their relationship to Robert Algeo of Hollymount also in Leitrim.   robert had three sons -- John Henry, James and william -- possibly William Whitelaw Algeo.  Do you have any further information Lewis' origins and relations?

Also, is it correct that it was Lewis' son that emigrated to Canada about 1819 and from there (I think) to Michigan?

I am interested in Adam Algeo who came to Ontario later than Lewis, but could be related.  Adam's father was Charles and came from Cloon Clare Parish in Manor Hamilton, Co. Leitrim.
Anyway, I found this excerpt today, which you might find interesting:
"EXCERPT FROM “THE HISTORY OF SIMCOE”
BY ANDREW F. HUNTER

CHAPTER # 2
WEST GWILLIMBURY
BRADFORD AND IT’S NEIGHBORHOOD

The settlers who first crossed the Holland River arrived in the fall of 1819, and were three Irishmen - James Wallace, Lewis Algeo and Robert Armstrong.

Lewis Algeo, the pioneer of Lot 13, conc. 7, wore with him to the backwoods a belt or girdle containing seven hundred sovereigns, according to a custom of the time to carry one’s coins in a belt.  As it was easy to get rid of money fast in such a place and at such a time of hardships, his little pile of gold soon grew less.  He was of Italian extraction, but immediately from Ireland, his wife being a daughter of Robert Armstrong, his pioneer neighbor.  It is said she was the first white woman to cross the Holland River.  Their children were partly grown when they came in 1819.  The Algeo family made some clearing on the land mentioned, then sold it to Hugh Scodie, and afterwards had a small store in Bradford in its early days.  Mr. Algeo’s death occured in or about the year 1839, and his family mostly became permanent settlers in this country."
