Richard Sully marriage
« on: Friday 08 January 10 21:59 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out if Richard Sully had a second marriage to Mary?
I think he probably married Elisabeth Hoyles at St Mary's Nottingham 21 Dec 1784, a Richard and Elizabeth Sully had four children Thomas, Richard, Elizabeth and Ann and these are definitely the children of the Richard I am interested in. However in his will dated June 11 1817 he refers to his wife as Mary and leaves her 20 pounds.
I can find no death for Elisabeth, but there is a marriage at St Mary's for Richard Sully to Mary Dodsley 14 July 1813, would this say whether he was a widower.

RE: Richard Sully/Sulley will leaving 20 pounds to Wife Mary. I would dearly like to know if there was any mention of any children. I am trying to trace my 3x G Grandfather Richard Sulley. Perhaps he was married 3 times. First Elizabeth, then to my 3x G Grandmother Anna Sutton, then Mary. Looking at dates and children I can make a good case but I really need more.
Thank you,
Ken

Thank you nottsgirl. I have been trying for ages to find if it was my Richard who married Mary Doddesley. It is not absolute proof, but he was a widower, his wife Elizabeth died in March 1813,and he was a victualler.

Hi Ken (Sulley Descendant)

Louisa 1803
Francis 1804
James 1807
Samuel 1808
