Hello both

Probably best to keep the query all on one board - though I note that there is a request on the Waterford board.  Please keep this main thread updated with anything discovered there, to prevent duplication of effort which can get annoying!

I would offer to move this - but since it concerns both Oz and NZ it is hard to know where!  Perhaps best left!

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Norcott's wedd cert lists Camilla D'Esterre as his mum and states that he was born in Waterford,Ire (abt 1834).
Is there any primary evidence available that might link Camilla to the rest of the D'Esterre family in Waterford about that time ?.

From the Waterford County Library website - Graveyard Inscriptions -  Drumcannon Graveyard... Norcott  Desterre Esq. of Co. Clare, died 13 July 1779.    http://www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/en/familyhistory/gravememorials/
The year of death is probably incorrect as a further article states that he died a few months after the marriage of his eldest daughter Catherine to Abraham Atkins on 26 May 1799 at Drumcannon , Tramore, Co Waterford. This article also contains a short history of the D'Esterre family.  http://snap.waterfordcoco.ie/collections/ejournals/100772/100772.pdf    .....pages 55/56.
Their estate was at Rossmanagher Castle, Co. Clare - between Ennis and Limerick City.
A son of Norcott - John Norcott D'Esterre was killed in a duel by Daniel O' Connell. His widow married a son of Arthur Guinness
From the National Library of Ireland website - http://sources.nli.ie/    They have numerous holdings on D'Esterre family including -   Pedigree of Captain John Neville Norcott D'Esterre, fatally wounded in duel with O'Connell, Feb. 1, 1815 and Genealogical notes on the family of D'Esterre. Compiled by H. S. Guinness, 1928.
On the Waterford County Library website  - Griffiths Valuation lists an Abraham Atkins as owning property in Waterford City. c1860
Also worth searching  -  http://www.clarelibrary.ie/

Weldon - Waterford.
Smale, Small - Sussex, Kent.
Treacy - Waterford, U.K, New York. South Africa
Van Eesbeck - Waterford, Limerick, Belgium, U.S
Purcell -  Kilkenny, Waterford
Flood - Waterford.
O'Neill - Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford.
Nicholson - Waterford

nowell,
many thanks for the information & most particularly the references - my first time in Irish genealogy.
I have since obtained the marr cert of Norcott, which confirms his mum as Camilla D'Esterre - next her parents ?, then to sort out the next 3 gen of Atkins apparently all named Abram - all if possible, that is.

Have a look at'D'Esterre of Rossmanagher' by Esme F.H. Colley in the Ir. Gen. 1979 5 (6) p. 720-727. It has the complete history of the D'Esterres, including their relationship to Norcott and Atkins (my ancestor)
