I think your Bernard Brady is related to my GGGF Thomas Brady who was also in the RIC - would be good to link up

 Hello!

Thank you for contacting me! I am very interested  to learn how your Brady and mine are connected.  I am at present on a walking holiday in Spain. I will be home by the middle of May and will contact you then. Until then,

Best wishes

Hello James!

Yes, I was walking a little-known path of St. James, the Ruta de la Lana, from Valencia to Burgos.

Now back home and rested, I am curious to hear how you think your Thomas Brady and my Bernard Brady are related.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and your research? Have you just started, or are you a "veteran"?

Unless you have documentary evidence to back up the link, the problem I see is that Brady was a very common family name in Cavan. Two men called Brady in the RIC from Cavan are not necessarily related...

I am being pessimistic in saying that, but I do hope that you can surprise me and produce some hard evidence to prove your point!

As regards myself, I did do a lot of research on the Internet and in the National Library in Dublin a few years ago but then stopped. Much new material in now available and perhaps you have found BMD or other information to back up your claim. I do hope so!

If Thomas and Bernard are indeed related, you will be glad to hear that I have some photos and information about Bernard's children which may be of interest to you. Most of them emigrated to the  USA. A few remained in Ireland. I have not been able to trace any of their descendants.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Beir bua is beannacht,

Éamann

Ive been researching the Lilly Surname in Fermanagh for years,  without finding a definite link to my ancestors with John Lilly (b. approx 1820) or his father Denis Lilly (b. around 1800).   John left for St. Helens England around the time of the famine and showed up in the 1851 census in England.    The place of birth was stated as Ireland,  thats it.   But with alot of research I realized he and his friends and relations worked in the local chemical factories run by the Gamble brothers of Fermanagh, Ireland.  Also there are records of other Lilly families in the Enniskillen area and surrounding towns.

If you looked for Bernard’s descendants in the 1911 census you probably did not find them. Nor did I for a long time, until I discovered that Bernard’s grand-daughter Caitlín, who was staying with her aunts at the time of the census, had filled in the form in Irish, using Ní Brádaigh - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003141006/   ....

So sorry,  I'm confused as to what the question is.  I'm just looking to see if any more research has been found over the years pertaining to the Lilly family surname connected with this Brady family.
If not, is there anyone else that has done any Lilly family research from Fermanagh County or the connected Cavan County?
