If this is the right Joseph, then from the 1911 census it looks as if he and his wife had a child late in life - Arthur Harry Thomas aged 4, born in Pontypridd.  Joseph is still working in a colliery, but they are now living in 5 Foundry Place, Pontypridd.  Wife MAry Jane is also with them.

I think that to prove it is the right Joseph, you'd have to get the marriage cert to get father's name.  Suspect that they married Mar qtr 1885, Hereford 6a 699 (Joseph Thomas and Jane Pember)

Looking at the 1881 census, it appears as if Francis and [Michael] Edward are in Hereford Union Workhouse on Commercial Road.  Both boys were born at Ridge Hill (ties up with Joseph's POB).  Francis is 13, a scholar and tailor.  Edward is 11 and a scholar. RG11/2595/119/10

Hi, I realise that some years have gone past since the last entry on this thread and I wonder if anyone is monitoring? I found this thread by Googling "Kitto"
Mary Ann Kitto was my paternal great grandmother. Her first husband (the well named John Thomas) died in 1869 and Mary Ann re-married to a Mr Langford. My name is Thomas so our branch is from the earlier marriage.
Referring back to the entries in the forum, the information from SpiderMonkey agrees with information I have gleaned but is not connected to the original request from KMcKenzie. It does not add to the original request unfortunately. Is this why the thread died?
Kind Regards...

Hi Hotray,

Welcome to RootsChat.

KMcKenzie started off his research by posting the topic that spidermonkey was helping out with, sadly KMcKenzie never came back. Since then we have tried to make contact but sadly he has changed his email address which means we are no longer able to make contact with him.

When we loose contact with old members we do leave a little note underneath the profile name to advice anyone viewing the post.

Hope that this helps with your questions.

Regards

Sarah
