irish mortons?

I'm related to one of the above Mortons - to James Morton of Toberhead - but I don't have any William or William James in the tree that I know of - and Francis seems to be a well used family name. I would be interested to know of the descendants of Soloman Morton as I have a different Morton: David marrying into my Hueston family in 1913.

   Children of Solomon Morton and Isabella Smyth, who married on 25 Oct 1861 in Curran Presbyterian Church, Maghera were:-
1864 Andrew
1866 Andrew
1868 Samuel
1871 Maryanne
1873 Mary
1875 Andrew.
    It appears that some died young and there may be others whom I could not find.

You have missed out a couple of Isabella's children that I know of from the 1911 Census (all Presbyterian, born Co.Derry):
Bella Morton, 67, Female, Head of Family, Read and write, Widow, m.49 years, 12 children/9 living
Francis Morton, 48, Male, Son, Farmer, Read and write, Single
Annie Morton, 39, Female, Dau, Read and write, Single
Minnie Morton, 37, Female, Dau, Read and write, Single
Lizzie Morton, 31, Female, Dau, Read and write, Single

I was hoping that David was one of the ones not listed - note at the time of the 1911 census she had 12 children of which 9 were still alive. I do wonder whether this family is related to mine due to the name Francis popping up in it.

Hi,
    If you look on the IGI, part of www.familysearch.org you will find a submitted family group starting with Francis, born 1779, his marriage to Mary Sands in 1804, both events just Co.Londonderry. However 6 sons are listed as born in Castledawson between 1807 and 1819, John, Samuel, David, James, Solomon and Francis. I have found what I think are the families of Solomon and Francis and the names keep occurring, but not David. I cannot find families of the other 4 sons.

James Morton I've calculated to be born before 1820 based on the age of one of his sons so I suspect that I do link to that tree. I know of two of James sons; Francis from whom I descend and also a David - mentioned on James's headstone - but the detail had crumbled away so I was unable to read it. I need to look at the records of Castledawson Presbyterian to see if the information is recorded there.

I have a Francis Morton born around 1842 married to Jane Tipping on the 7th February 1862, in Castledawson Presbyterian Church, they had at least 8 children that I know off

James born 3rd Jan 1863
Unknown  Born 29th July 1864
Francis 16th Apr 1866
Thomas 14th May 1867
Mary Jane 12th June 1869
David 12th Aug 1871
Andrew 16th September 1873
George 2nd September 1877.

Thomas went to America, 1910 census living at 5117 Broad Street Pittsburg City, Pa. Occupation Water Tender
My interest is in the Tipping side of the family

Hi,
    I have found the Morton/Tipping marriage but have no knowledge of Jane Tipping. However the Tipping name appears in the IGI in the Magherafelt District. The Griffiths Valuation of 1859 also gives a few Tipping families. The 1831 Census (Head of house only) gives an Ed. Tipper (sic) in Ballyscullion and a Thomas Tippin (Sic) in Magherafelt. The Flax Growers Register of 1796 gives no variation of the name. Not much help but the best I can find.

Remembered that I have details of the 1901 census entry for the Solomon Morton Family as well and it is as follows:
1901 Census from my notes:

And the 1911 census lists that at that time she had 12 children 9 alive.   

I'd forgotten about those long ago notes so it does show that potentially I may have found the David Morton I'd been looking for - I'll have to wait for the certificate to find out. Or equally my notes show there is potentially yet another David Morton living in Curran too.
