Holborn Potteries COMPLETED THANKS

is there a register where I might find any potteries operating in London 1890-1920 ish
I have just bought a beautiful Tureen in fine Art Nouveau style marked Holborn. I am assuming that it is from a Holborn pottery rather than made by a Mr Holborn .I've exhausted Google or has Google exhausted me ?!..

 I have looked through 'The Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks by G A Godden'

There is no Holborn Pottery named.
However, my g.uncle was a potter and lived in the area.
Like you, I would love to find the Pottery too.

It may be a potter's name or mark rather than a Holborn pottery

I've never heard of this pottery before this week. There was another piece  on ebay that I missed. Its a beautiful soft blue on white with organic bits .(not a very technical sounding description is it  )

I have had a look for you on a 1914 map of Holborn, no joy sorry.

I think it likely that Holborn is the name of the pattern.

Hi Vicki thank you for your kind offer . Sorry for the delay. I can only find a picture of this dish which is the same pattern as my tureen . It was listed as 'Holborn serving dish MM26.

Hi Earley-Bird,

Having looked through the Phone directories for this era I found many people with the surname' Holborn'  living in Holborn.
Still no pottery yet.

In 1890 The McKinley Tariff came into force and Wares were marked with their Country of origin, providing everyone actually complied, your Holborn pottery piece would pre-date this.

In the 20th century it would have 'Made in England' on it.

If a label states Circa, this indicates 10 years either side.

As this Pottery is unknown, it would be worth keeping your piece for its possible rarity.

Hi Vicki thank you for looking that up for me. After hours of searching I did find a single plate for sale in Australia but nothing about the pottery or potter. its quite a mystery. The only common factor is that all three pieces were described 'Holborn pattern'
