Sorry the Tilt family is very large and hard to follow.
The census may have them has either Tillt, Tylt, or tilltt.

Hi

What was the source of your information giving Thomas' age having a birth year of 1796, please?

The IGI gives two Thomas TILTs.  Why couldn't he be the 1806 one, as Thos. TILT.  FreeREG doesn't have the 1796 one.  (Note these are both just indexes - finding tools - and details should not added to your tree until confirmed.
Remember too that the IGI often calculates the average age of a marriage from the date of birth.  FreeREG gives the date of marriage as 26th July 1823.

If you can't get to Worcester Family History Centre, the LDS will hire in for you, for a fee, copies of register films.

Please note the baptism registers for St. John's, sometime around 1800-1805 overlap!!!  And the information sometimes differs    :o    Be aware that there may be other churches recording baptisms.

Hope that helps a little

Mike

Hello Again Trista,

Times have moved on since my last post.  You may be able to 'place' your family using the census information.  And I don't just mean the 1841 onwards.  Our society has published, on-line and for FREE, the Bromsgrove 1811 and 1821 census.  You will need to register to gain access though.  http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/  Then use the search engine for each index and follow the link.

What you get is the head of the household only.  However, the address is also given!  Plus absolute numbers of males and females.

There are 3 indexes available that may help you track the baptisms, as sometimes the abode is given.  The information given can be different for all 3.  There's FreeREG, the new FamilySearch and the county baptism index, http://www.fhs-online.co.uk/ which is a pay-to-view a transcription - however the search engine is free and does allow a crude family search.

FreeREG and FamilySearch may also give you Sarah's surname.  If you see the  surname ROSE as a witness, it's probably not a relative or friend, it's the Churchwarden.

As for the rest of Charles' family it's the 3 indexes again, and the 1841 & 1851 census.  Check the burials as well just in case the baptism was missed.

Hope that helps

When you done all that I suggest you post on the Bromsgrove BMSGH forum board with your new information.

Hi Trista, this is a very late reply and you may have more info than I.
I am doing the history for my friend who is a Tilt descendant and it is very difficult as they mostly passed down the same name to their children on the males side.
However, I have a Thomas Tilt born 1796 Bromsgrove who married Sarah Rowe 26th July 1823 in Bromsgrove.  (same info as you)
I also cannot find his parents YET....I usually only go back to gr gr gr but I still like to name the parents.
This Thomas is my friends gr gr gr grandfather and I got this info from Ancestry.
They had a daughter Ann 1824
A son John 1826
A daughter Elizabeth 1828
A son Charles 1834-1870
It is this Charles who is the gr gr grandfather to my friend.

I do have a truck load of information, and am doing a scrap book...but not yet...until I have confirmed so much with my friend and maybe he doesn't know because he was born in Australia.
Charles Tilt married a Dinah Miles 25/12/1853
and one of their children William links to my friend also.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to find Theodosia Tilt who married Thomas Bache. Someone has Theodosia born in 1736 in the line of Alice Tilt of Bromsgrove who had a son Caleb Tilt who married Ann Barker in 1636. I am researching the Baches so have more information about them.
