See this link http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=t4gn80gwcrrp&scene=22073724&lvl=1&sty=b&eo=1&where1=SR4%209DB
You can then move the view to the correct location.

hi stan and neil,
once again thankyou!
this link is fascinating, still not sure which building is which as there are a couple that look as if they could be official offices or something with car parks.
i did imagine that the pennywell would look something like the picture of the eagle (but intact and with a roof!  lol!) but as i dont know this area at all it could have looked like anything.
regards
tina

hello neil!
sorry to be a bit thick, what colour is the roof?
i see a red one right on the corner then a grey one (white building) to the left of  it with a car park again in its left.
is this where it is?

If you change the view to looking south you can see the front of the building facing on to Porchester Road, with the white roofed building behind.

Now that Google Street View has been extended you can get excellent views of the former Pennywell Pub, which is now called "Springboard, Sunderland" Portsmouth Road Sunderland SR4 9HU
