I think the first two names are "Henry Cecil".  Can't make out the surname just yet...

Right, here we go (for what it's worth!)
I enhanced colour and levels, and then replaced the colour of the writing with a hot pink.  Rubbed out everything else, and ended up with what looks like "Fellinly"  ??? ::)

The "ly" at the end of "sincerely" is the same as the ending of the mystery word; also, the "e" after the capital "F" is written the same way as the "e" in "Cecil".

Well !

Google found me, at
http://www.william1.co.uk/c12.htm

one "Henry Cecil Fellowes":-

B3. Henry Cecil Fellowes, * 1851, + 1915,
Md.1) 1875, Mary Edith Routh Clarke, + 1893, d. of William Robert Clarke, of Wattlefield Hall, Norfolk.
    C1. Lyon Cecil Fellowes, * 1881, +,
           Md.1) 1903, Bessie Adeline Francis, d. of John Francis;
Md.2) 1908, Ruth Ellen Green, d. of Walter Green.
           D1. a son, * & + 1909.
   C2. Pleasance Edith Fellowes, * 1878, +,
Md. 1896, Capt. Arthur Bingham Crabbe.
Md.2) 1914, Beatrice Emma Crosland Terry, d. of Henry Terry, of Paris, France.

... which might fit ?   The Carte de Visite was taken in April 1874; he was married the following year, so it just MIGHT have been an engagement pic ?

The counties - Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire - don't connect with the album's owner's stamping grounds of Derbyshire / Staffordshire.... but you just NEVER know !

Ah, I can see Fellowes in there...he's a bit lax with rounding his "o"s, obviously - and then the "w" goes up into another "e" like the ones in Cecil and Fell...and the "e" then comes back down to make a lazy "s".

... so I rummaged around on the Internet (Googled Thrupp), and two kind people (Thank you, Dave of DakotaBoo and Krul Antiquarian Books) have sent me these.  If one could "subtract" one of these coats-of-arms from the back of 14C....

Thank you, everybody, for your endeavours with this, and *I* think it is safe to say it IS "Henry Cecil Fellowes"

Does anyone have access to BDMs that might show entries for this name ?

If there is but the one I mentioned above (1851-1915, became a clergyman), that fixes it to my satisfaction....

Thanks again
