Hi!
I am married to the great-grandson of the Anderson Gibson that came to Canada. He farmed in the province of Saskatchewan. His son George farmed with him and His son Wayne was my father-in law. Wayne farmed in The province of Alberta, Canada. He is now deceased. I am married to his eldest son Greg who farmed with him and continues to farm. My family tree is on Ancestry.ca under the Kuich family tree. Anderson died in 1940 and is buried in Potter's field in Tisdale, Saskatchewan because his son and his family could not afford to pay for his burial. George died of Spinal meningitis in 1948 and left behind his wife Gladys with 6 children, including 6 month old twin boys. My father-in-law was 15 when George died. Wayne and his wife Pearl had 5 children, the eldest being my husband Greg. Greg and I have two sons and the. Adopted a girl. Our eldest son is married and has given us 2 grandsons so the Gibson line thrives in Alberta!

hello to you, and thanks you for replying to this line of research into the Gibsons
Can I confirm that the date  of birth for both Andersons that travelled to Canada in 1907
Anderson (father) was born in Berwick-on-Tweed in March 1856 and son Anderson 13th Dec 1883 in Coldingham.
As I do not have Ancestry.ca or indeed any ancestry, I use Scotland's People and FindMy Past with Family Search (as it is free), I have not followed up this line of the Gibsons, so once you have completed 3 posts on RootsChat we can exchange personal messages via the email system, (it is part of the security on Rootschat).
Look forward to hearing from you soon

Hi.
I have the same birthdates for each of these Anderson Gibson's who came to Canada. The Anderson Gibson who was born in 1856 died December 1, 1940 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The family rumour is that George did not know that his sister was really his mother. George was raised by his grandparents Anderson and Janet. In the early 1960's, my father-in-law Wayne's received a letter from a lawyer in Australia or New Zealand on behalf of a Janet Cook who was supposedly George Gibson's mother. Janet Cook had died. Wayne received enough money from her estate that he was able to buy farmland in The province of Alberta, Canada.

does anyone know of OXENRIG in the Parish of Coldstream ?
I have a birth there in 1903, but unable to find any reference to it on NLS Maps around turn of the century.
