Hi
Many thanks for that, do you have the census details?

Also in the 1871 census it has a Mary Mcleon? born abt 1856 as a grandaughter, but I am unable to find which daughter is the mother.

You are welcome...not 100% sure about the marriage as its after the date of Barbara's birth but that doesnt rule it out, nothing surprises you in this game!

The marriage is on Scotlands People, its a pay per view site and you might not get much more info from it about the marriage but there is a chance it will say what Parish John is from..and if you are very lucky might give Christinas fathers name.

As for the name Christian, its very common for names to be spelt different on every document, esp when you get back to the mid 1800's, many people couldnt read or write and often the registrar etc would just write down what it sounds like.

And its possible James could be his brother, but then could be a cousin etc, its hard to say with the 1841 not giving relationships

I'm not sure about this one. It could be that the marriage is just not there - many aren't because they were not C of S. None of the children's baptisms show which is another sign of this.
