Burial records
« on: Friday 18 March 05 12:00 GMT (UK) »
Following on from Mike from Leicester's much appreciated research on the Callaghan family in Loughborough, I wonder if anybody can advise on where I might find burial records for the following persons whose deaths are recorded in the FreeBMD database:

Catherine Calahan, Loughborough 1839 (Dec quarter)
James Callaghan, Loughborough 1843 (Mar quarter)

My GGGrandfather David Calaghan, probably James' brother, was married in the Catholic Chapel Loughborough in 1846 and buried in Loughborough Cemetery on 16 Nov 1872;  his wife, by then named Fanny Bradbury, was also buried in Loughborough Cemetery on 9 Dec 1893.  Both records were found in FamilyHistoryOnline.  Can anyone advise the best method of locating their graves?

Aged 70.

Fanny BRADBURY.

Due to the early dates I think it will be a

Found a contact for Loughborough Cemetery worth a try ?

Thanks Mike.

I called the number you provided and a very helpful lady - coincidentally formerly married to a Callaghan! - offered to look up and send me the records for David and Fanny.

As far as Catherine and James are concerned, presumably they are buried in a local churchyard - Anglican or Catholic.  Where is the official depository for such records, and can a member of the general public carry out a search?
