Elizabeth WALKER c1894 Broxburn, Scotland
« on: Tuesday 09 February 10 21:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks, I am looking for info on the aforementioned Elizabeth. Although Elizabeth was born in Scotland she spent most of her married life on the Isle of Man. She married George Combe (unsure of when). George was a lighthouse keeper and they had 6 children that I know of. The childrens names were Elizabeth, Grace, Agnes, Alex, George and Willie. Can anyone help please.

Hi,

I have a George Fairbairn Combe who married an Elizabeth Walker in Linlithgow in 1914 and was a lighthouse keeper. I have done a lot of research on the Newhaven side of my tree and he is a distant cousin to me. I dont have any information on Elizabeth but do have their marriage record I am happy to pass on if you pm me your email address.

Its a small world :)

Hi

My Mum is Grace Qualtrough (nee Combe) daughter of Elizabeth and George Combe.  The family moved to the Isle of Man in 1935 and my Mum is the only child who is still alive.  I will gladly supply further information as there are quite a few of us living on the Isle of Man.  Elizabeth and George are burried at Rushen Churchyard along with 2 of my uncles, George and Willie with a memorium to my uncle (James) who died in a U boat in 1942.

Hi

Sorry that should have read that James Fairburn Combe died in a U boat hit - he was on the ship Pennington Court. (I should have read it before hitting reply!)

Hi Alison,

Andrea has not been online for while as there may be a problem with her emails. I think that I may have found her on another website so just dropped her a message about your reply.

All the Best

Sarah :)

Hi Alison,

Your grandmother Elizabeth (Lizzie) Combe was born Elizabeth McNeice Walker in Broxburn Scotland. Her eldest sister, Mary Devine Walker , b1887 was my grandmother. Mary married William Wyper in 1909 and the family emigrated to Australia in 1927. Their youngest child, William Wyper, b1923 Broxburn was my father. The family settled in maitland NSW, where I was born. In 1962 my grandmother Mary Devine Wyper( nee Walker), now a widow, visited Scotland to catch up with her surviving siblings. Mary spent weeks on the Isle of Man with sister Lizzie and her family. When Mary returned to Australia she brought with her many photos . I have been putting names to the faces in the photos but have a number of your family still unidentified. I'm happy to share them with you. I have a tree on GenesReunited.William (Bill ) Wyper, lake Macquarie NSW
