Hi Suz,
With a name like Jessie or Jesse and a gardener

Fred Hatton born 1866 mothers maiden name Norgrove born in  Charlton

A Jessie Hatton Married Jane Norgrove 1856

Only conclusion one can come too is that the Deceased is Sarah Hilliers father left blank
Only Fred's birth cert or parish baptism will prove for certain.

The words Charlton and Gardener and Norgrove is strong medicine

Actually 'Jessie' the  mans name is Jeptha in latin or biblical -shortened to Jep Jeppy then Jessie

Variant Ph= F .Phone =Fone

FS (Maybe the old PTH)  then F (PH)  droped the long F in F S (like a upside down J) to SS now!!

With this in mind and abundant illiteracy then.

I'll sign off with my mark X  ;D

Thanks for that everyone.

I emailed my friend and she thinks that you are right and that it was Jesse, unfortunately that means she is on the wrong track after all.

I have told her to sign on to rootschat herself because everyone is so helpful.
I will mark this one as completed.

Thanks again mum mum

Hi,

Rootschatters were not on the wrong track, it seems my friend was following the wrong Frederick.
