Hi there,

Really good site, easy to move around, and interesting to read, and alas for me, I have no known connections to your area, or to any of the names you have listed,  BUT .... its a very good website, much better than most, (not just most better than most family history sites, but much better than many of the corporate sites that have nothing to do with family history).

I'm in OZ, and using a Vista 64 bit OS on an HP workstation with an Nvidia Quadro FX 3600 card.   Recently upgraded the IE to whatever is the most recent version.

Many Cheers,

Its Just Moi Opinion that you should give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done so far.

Hi Chris,

Trust me to be the awkward one!   I'm not at all technically adept but I've gone through the procedure, which, in case it helps you at all, I will relate:

1.  Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.  And yes, it is I.E. 8.
2.  Checking the 'Diagnostics' - www.maythornemill.webs.com(204.2.183.50).
Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response.

Reset the network adapter "Wireless Network Connection".
Resetting the adapter can sometimes resolve an intermittent problem

3.  Repair process gone through.  Result:  There still seems to be a problem with your connection.

Which seems rubbish to me because I don't have network connection problems as far as I know.

Never mind.  Perhaps the gremlins will go away soon.  I'll come back soon and try again.

Hi Chris, you are going to hate me.  :-[ (But you did ask for comments ... so here goes):

Firstly - great work and interesting stories (I read some but not all of them) though I have no links to the area.

The blue edges/borders in "Fred's Story" are a little too close to the text which makes it a little difficult to read. I think you need more white area around your text boxes.

Similar with your bio - there needs to be a bit more space between photos and text.

I like the blue colour - it looks professional - style of font is easy to read.

On Fred's family tree the bright blue text used for some of the names tends to look a bit blurry (or maybe I need new specs  ;)) and does not stand out as much as it could.

White text out of blue background is more challenging to read, though it does look nice.

Been in and done a few changes to make text a bit clearer - Chris

You have included some lovely photos.

Please feel free to ignore all of my comments - I perfectly understand.  ;) I hope this does not come across as super critical. I do not intend it to be that way.

In general a wonderful site - you've done an amazing job.  ;D

Hi Ruskie

No, I am not going to hate you - I appreciate your honesty :-[.

1. I agree about the blue edges being to close to text, but as have yet not been able to figure out how to move them.
2. The Bright blue text is the 'Direct Line' and am trying to get it to go another colour like red for example
3. I wanted a green background, but all those available were either to bright or gaudy

But thanks for the comments

Phew, that's a relief.

I was just being super picky.  ;)

PS. I like the blue.  :)

Hi Cember

Thanks for that - they are easy enough to do as most of it is cut and paste - so go on, have a bash

Well done. Even though I'm in Notts, I don't have any Southwell ancestors, but I was also interested in the Macclesfield side as I went to school in Macclesfield.
Keep up the hard work, I know how time consumng it is making sure everything's just right.
