Where to start?? Well the reason you could not find a marriage between John and Grace is because on Mary's birth certificate she is shown as a "natural child" ie they were not married.  Witnesses on the birth certificate were Thomas Sharpe and Peter MacKinlay.  Do you need her birth certificate?

Mary was a housemaid aged 23 from Howick and she arrived in Australia on the 24th November 1839 aboard the Palmyra which left Greenock on 20th July 1839.  She was a "bounty immigrant" and was to be employed by Chas Williamson esq. in Melbourne.  Do you want details of the ship/ships passengers etc??

Hi, this is my family as well. I am a descendant of Mary Sharp and Gilbert Livingston. Any contact for information (such as I have) would be welcome. FYI Margaret Tait seems to have died young and a subsequent daughter was also named Margaret.
