Hi Folks
Am trying to contact a lady who is a cousin related to the Martin/Himsley union.
She sent me some info on this branch and I am searching my email files to contact her.
With the advent of our DNA results, I am now trying to fill in the gaps and trying to encourage other cousins to take the test.
Having done this for over 30 years, we have 12,000+ names and have confirmations coming in with each new advert by Ancestry!  Prima facie evidence that our research is correct.
Am trying to tidy up my records to pass down to the next generations before I fall off the perch!  Have photos of families taken back in Scotland possibly in the 1880's? and need to get them sorted, if possible?
Viv Martin, Australia

So it could well be me you are looking for :)

I am directly related to the Himsley line  --

and I have done the wonderful DNA test --

so maybe it is me.  Have you attempted contact on Ancestry, through a  result of a DNA match.

I will check my inbox.

xin

ps if you post  two more responses on here then I can pm you

Sorry; can't help you with the Himsley line.  In this case, mine is only the Martin line.  However, any children down from the marriage of Wm Martin & Helen Hannah Himsley would be related to me and show up on any DNA matches.

An Ian Nellies has shown up as a DNA match and he has attached some documents of my g-g-grandparents to his Ancestry file.  I cannot read them as I don't have a paid subscription to ancestry but he will be my 4th cousin.  Am awaiting a reply from him.  He is on Facebook as well, as am I.  As more and more cousins are doing their DNA, we are unravelling more and more of the mysteries!

Having been doing this for 35+ years, the exciting part about DNA is that it is confirming (prima facie) that the paper trail is correct!

Hi
My grandmother Helen Hemsley Martin was B: 1904 in Ballingry Fife,
so my line goes back to Wm Hemsley his spouse is Ann Mackinnon.

Pizel

Have we spoken before?  Your grandmother is my 2nd cousin, once removed & Christina Glover Shields is my 3rd cousin.  The common ancestors are: Wm Martin & Agnes Tod, my g-g-gandparents.  Some time ago, I corresponded with a lady who gave me a fair amount of info on the descendants of Wm Martin & Helen Hannah Himsley/Himisley/Hemsley but we have lost contact! :(
