HI Isobelle,

If you don't want to wait you can "request this" and send off to the Archives for a quote and they can send it through to you via email.

The only thing that I would confirm is that what they will send you is only information on your listed person.

I did this recently with the surgeon's journal put her name etc, unfortunately when they sent it they only sent me the first 10 pages (that's all the payment allowed for) and the person I listed wasn't even in there.  If I wanted to get the rest of the journal it was going to end up costing about A$45.00 and couldn't even guarantee that she was there - oh well, learning curve.

I tried about a month ago to get a copy of soldiers docs through the online request a copy feature (got some this way last year) only to be told they have now discontinued that service. The Chelsea pensioner files will be coming online though, later this year, at Findmypast.

Thanks for your replies,
I think I will just wait now, until they come on line later in the year,

Isobelle.

I know that my ancestor John Warnock from Scotland fought in the Battle of Waterloo. This is all I know.....

Is someone able to provide me with more information about his military history? Or sites for more information.

Thank you.

The Waterloo Medal roll is on Ancestry and I cannot find him.

Since this question first appeared the surviving pension records have been put on Findmypast. If a soldier was at Waterloo he would receive an extra pension of one half-penny a day, and this will be stated on his discharge form.

I have recently finished a three year project
of recording all 600 soldiers of the 1st (or) Kings Dragoon Guards that served at Waterloo. There is no one names Brotherhood on the list

Ken,

Thanks so much for your help here.  I will be able to contact Kew for a copy, a cousin is travelling to UK from Australia in July, so she may be able to collect it then for me.

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Isobelle.
