I am looking for info on my GGreatGrandfather William Hynd born 1855 Scotland, I do not know of the location. He married Ann Ross Nicolson around 1899 ish, would have been his second marriage. They moved to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in the early 1900's and had my Great grandmother Jean Craig Hynd in 1908. William brought over 2 children from his previous marriage on the trip to Canada, his son Peter and daughter Margaret or Maggie. I am looking for more solid info on William, his parents, his birth location..etc. William was a coal miner in Scotland and continued that profession in Canada. I believe in his later years he and Annie moved with daughter Jean to British Columbia.  Thank so much for any help!

Hi , welcome to RC  :)

Scotlandspeople has a marriage William Hynd / Ann Ross Nicolson , 1899 Dalziel Lanark.

If you download that certificate it should give you both sets of parents.

Not sure where William Snr is, but going with the names of his children in 1901, this looks a likely entry for 1891 with first wife Sarah:

Sarah Hynd 30 b. Larkhall, Lanarkshire
James Hynd 8
Wm Hynd 6
Sarah Hynd 4
Agnes Hynd 2
Lizzie Hynd 3 Months

Address: 1 Milton Row Dalziel Lanarkshire

There is a possible marriage in Hamilton in 1881 for a William Hynd and a Sarah Brown.

A 34 yr old Sarah Brown/Hynd died in Hamilton district in 1897.

Are these William's death details?:

William Hynd, aged 77. Married.
Death 21 May 1933 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Birth Date    28 Jan 1856 in Scotland
Father's Name    James Hynd
Mother's Name    Agnes Baranan

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FL54-32Y

I think, from other information, mother Agnes' maiden name was Barrowman.

There is an extensive family tree on this line on a/try following the line of William's brother James.

Family in 1861:

James Hynd 44 coal miner b. Old Monkland, Lanarkshire
Agnes Hynd 38 b. Larbert Stirlingshire
Catherine Hynd 16
James Hynd 11
John Hynd 9
Elizabeth Hynd 7
William Hynd 5 b. Old Monkland, Lanarkshire
Margaret Hynd 3
Mary Hynd 1

Address Dalziel Row, Dalziel

1851 and he and the family are living at Maggies Haugh, Old Monkland and John shows as aged 48 and born in Damaner, Stirling. This is from the transcript, not sure what the original says for his birth place.
The FreeCEN transcription says Polmont, Stirlingshire.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
