I have been given some information on an ancestors grave space in Grantham Cemetery. Year 1871
Before I make the trip To Grantham, could anyone please tell me if there is more than one Cemetery.
The information I have been given is for Section 2 Grantham Cemetery Linconshire.

Hi
There is only one municipal cemetery in Grantham. The others are church graveyards. You can get an idea of its setout from a google map http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=52.909517,-0.6302734&z=17&t=h&hl=en. I am in the process of photographing the gravestones at the cemetery but as yet do not have a ward plan.

Hi

I have a map of the Grantham cemetary which I will send to you in a PM as not sure if I can put it on site.

The map is dark as it is the only copy I have with none of my relatives on.Directions to Section 2 is as follows.

Go in main entrance of cemetary go up the main path go through the archway(which was the original cemetary building) and Section 2 is on your immediate Left. There is also a small buriel ground with Section 2 buriels the next block up on your left.If you cannot find the grave if you go up to the cremetoriam building at the top of the main path you will find a very helpfull office who will be able to help.

Thank you so much for your replies, I do have the Grave number so if I can find the graveyard I will go to the office and ask for information as you suggested .
There is no mention of a Church on the information I have so Im assuming it must be the municipal one.
If it turns out to be a Church Graveyard I suppose it could end up being a long search.
I had a look on the Google Map (Thanks) so that will be a help with directions.
Her Husband was a United Methodist Free Church Minister in Grantham but I dont know where he preached

I would love the map you offered to send me (tup1) but Im struggling with how to do a PM to send my email address.

Hi Maureen
You send a PM by clicking on the little green scroll, underneath the person you want to contact, profile on the left of the screen. A big thank you to Kath for sending the plan of the cemetery ;D
To make things a bit easier for you Maureen I have sent you a PM you can just reply to that.

Hi

Just to keep you all up to date with Maureens query I have been in touch with the very helpful staff at Grantham Cemetary and they have no record of Maureens

Gt Gt Grandmother JANE RANSHAW who was buried 10th April 1871 Section 2 17J  Grantham.Which is the only info she gave me.

I have sent her this info via email and hopefully she will be able to give more info as I have asked her if she has any idea how old when she died, where she was born, who she married and when and where, and her maiden name plus any children. As I told her any of this info will help Rootchatters help her.

Maureen is a newcomer and is not sure of how to use this site.
