'An' explanation here of where the name came from. Take your pick from Google.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~majak/mnoctor/GerardIndex.htm

wrt the marriage, it's a bit of a no-brainer, unless I'm missing something.

Name: Anne Noctor
Registration district: Gorey
Record type: MARRIAGES
Registration date - quarter and year: 1868
Volume: 12
Page: 667

Name: Charles Burke

same details.

Where did you get your estimate of 1873 for the marriage?

Dara.

Suspect that estimate for marriage date is merely year before son Michael's estimated year of birth.

Two more children listed in IGI (www.familysearch.org)-
1. Charles born 1 July 1875 Co. Wexford
2. Ann born 18 Nov.1876 Co.Wexford
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello Dara,

Thank you for your reply. I was told my a family member that the married approx 1873? They are not 100% sure though on it.

Yours sounds a bit more accurate!

Thanks again

There was a Noctor family living in nearby Camolin until the early 1900s.

To answer your question about Ann Noctor's birth- civil registration of births in Ireland began in 1864. Since Ann was born before that date you'd need to search for church records of a baptism (if such records still exist). Her marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation and names of bioth witnesses might be helpful.

See here for information on marriage certificates and how to order them-

Sorry, I dont have any other information, just that the house (Ballinamona, Camolin) changed hands around 1918.  However, if they exist, it might be worth checking parish records for that area.  You can see which Noctor was at this house in the online 1911 census.

Cheers
