I am interested by this since my aunt wrote a diary in Chefoo in 1900 in which Dennis Donnelly was quiite frequentlly mentioned. He was apparently very good at singing comic songs! I have now nearly finished writing a book for the Hong Kong University Press about my maternal family, three generations of which were in China. My grandmother, who was a Fawcus from Northumberland/Durham, married James Wilcocks Carrall, who was Commissioner of the Chinese Imperial Customs in Chefoo. I would rather like to know what Dennis Donnelly's parents were doing in Chefoo. My aunts used to attend their tennis at homes, so I doubt that he was a missionary. He was not in the Customs, so I think he was more likely a business man.
