Scale board seller.
« on: Friday 19 March 10 16:46 GMT (UK) »
I have been given the copy of a will made in 1745. The occupation of the man whose will it is, is.....scale board seller.

He leaves the sum of ten pound to his son for " morning cloathes" and 10 pound to his grandaughter when she becomes of age.

Possibly not an insubstantial sum for that date but what was his occupation? Help please.

Think I've found out. Possibly a thin slip of wood, something like veneer?

Yes, think it must be the same.

Have copies of wills of Daniel de Bouffler, William, signed 1808, Thomas dated 1756, Rebecca wife of Thomas, will proved 1762.

The de Boufflers are my mother in law's line.

I have Andrew b 1746, married Mary Redwood.

Daughter Harriet Selina b 1796 married Richard Hall 1818.

Daughter Harriet Selina Hall married John Hutchens.

Mary Ann Hutchens married Noah Mollett

Daughter Mary Ann Amelia Mollett (known as Winifred!) b 1876, mother of my mother in law b 1919.

Just the bare bones of it, do have more.

Research on this has been done by the father in law of one of my mother in law's grandaughters, with a little help from me!

Hi there,
My aunt found out most of this

Daniel de Bouffler, born 1664, the will I have is from 1745. And the wills of his wife Rebecca and son Thomas like you do. Have no idea what a scale board seller is!

Thomas's son Thomas born in 1751, his son John (a shoemaker) born 1781, his son Thomas born 1814, his daughter Elizabeth born 1868, then my great grandmother her daughter Elizabeth.

I think most of it is correct. On the family search website it mentions Daniel de Bouffler died in the battle of fontainebleu, in 1745, which sounds very exciting! If I find anything else out I will let you know.

 :)

n
(Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Art Terms) a very thin piece of board, used for backing a picture, as a veneer, etc.

I am a grand daughter of Mary Ann Amelia Mollett (known as Winifred) b 1876 and of

James B Fisher b 1871, I would appreciate it very much any informations past the 1911
