Location of Radeerpark. Cavan/Monaghan?
« on: Friday 19 March 10 20:20 GMT (UK) »
I have been unable to find a birth reg for my grandmother. I know that the family lived in County Monaghan from 1900, but I believe they moved there from elsewhere and some of the family may have been born in County Cavan.

Three of my grandmother's sisters emigrated to the USA. I have information about births for 2 of them (1870s/80s) from Killeevan Parish records. Killeevan is in County Monaghan. Apparently the Killeevan registers are totally faded in places and there is no sign of their 4 siblings. One of the sisters who emigrated and is also found in Parish records named Cootehill (County Cavan) as her place of birth. In the parish baptism records for her it says the family are from Radiarpark/Radierpark/Radeerpark/Rawdeerpark (not sure of the spelling) Does anyone have any idea where this place is located?

Regards
Angela

Thank you kingskerswell and annclare. I had assumed that as 2 of the sisters who emigrated to The USA stated Cootehill (Cavan) as their place of birth that Radiarpark/Radierpark/Radeerpark/Rawdeerpark must have been in County Cavan. I know they were in County Monaghan at the time of the 1901 census. I have looked on google maps and Radeerpark is about 16km from Cootehill.

I know that some Irish placenames are very similar and wondered if Radiarpark/Radierpark/Radeerpark/Rawdeerpark were different spellings of the same place, or completely different places.

I'm afraid I do find Irish geography rather difficult to follow.
