Some of the family lived in Finaghy. It may have been Janet. I had a conversation yesterday as I am trying to find the two houses were I understood my two great grandmothers (Knox and Morrison) used to live in around 1940. In Whitehouse Park. During my conversation with a historian she told me about Janet and Lesley at Lynda Park and also mentioned Finaghy. Mum told me something about Finaghy too as I briefly lived there. I am Christine, daughter of Joceline and second cousin of you, Jonathan - I assume it’s you. I’ve not seen you since I was a child.

Lesley returned from India and stayed with Janet in Lynda Park in Jordanstown. They ran an electrical business together. I think about 1945.

I have a marriage certificate for my grandfather Thomas Witherow Knox who was 32 in 1929 and the son of Hugh Montgomery Knox. Hugh's profession is listed as Religious and what I presume is Minister. At that time Thomas was living in what may be Timperley, but very hard to read. Does anyone know where Thomas may have been born or where Hugh would have been living in 1897?

Hello Simon and welcome  :)

Thomas is shown in 1911 census linked here

You'd think with at least 7 children there'd be a chance of some descendants!
Here's a link to 1911 census entry in case anyone is interested-

Kathleen and Thomas both have Witherow as middle names (transcribed as Witherin).

Son Jocelyn's birth was registered as Jocelyn George Milling Knox and looks like he married July/Sept.1936 Dublin North registration district.

Here it is again

Thank you that is very helpful. If it helps Thomas' marriage certificate states Thomas married Marjory Lewtas in 1929 when Thomas was 32 and suggests they were living near Manchester in Timperley? (very hard to read). They went on to have a daughter, Patricia Ann Knox (My mother) who married Micheal Brown and a son Peter Knox, who became Financial Director of Youngs Brewery. Both died recently.

No posts for some time but, if anybody is still tracking this, please note the Rev Hugh Montgomery Knox died 100 years ago on 27 October 1923.
