Ives - 1861 & 1871 - Please
« on: Thursday 25 March 10 01:03 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm currently trying to collect every piece of information about my Ives side of the family and I have these two census' missing.

Firstly i'm looking for JONAS IVES and his family. In 1851 they were living at New Fold or New Hold, Thurlstone. Jonas is born abt 1801 and is a Tailor. He was with his wife Sarah and three children - John, Mary Ann and Sarah Ann.

Son John is also a Tailor in '51 and I know Mary Ann married in 1853, so she shouldn't be still at home.

I reckon I know that Jonas died in 1875 in Wortley but don't know when Sarah died so would be grateful if I could see where Jonas was in 1871.

Secondly if I may, I would like to see where his son John is in 1871. He is a Tailor in 51,81 and 91 census' as well as a Farmer in 81. He was born in abt 1830 and married Mary. I don't know when but she is some years younger then him and was born abt 1847.
The oldest children I have are Sarah born 1867 and Clara born 1868.

Thankyou

Jonathan

Hi, Karenlee

Thanks  :D

Some good stuff to go off there. Ha, I was going to say in my orginal post 'I wonder if William Henry might have just made it onto the 1871 census, as he was born in Jun Quarter of that year' And he did!

Hives, Yes they have been down as that on other census'

Do you think there is more to that, or just a common mistake where the Ives surname is concered?

Thanks again

Jonathan

PS - Can anyone find Jonas Raynor and his family in 1861, I know his father John Silverwood died later that year and that Sarah Ann appears to remarry in '63 but after that they vanish
