I have Timothy Wightman the son of John Wightman ,b 20 Aug 1789 and Elizabeth Hopper, b 27 Feb 1794, who were married on 3rd June 1814: they also had Christian 8 Oct 1815 d 1821: John 8 Dec 1816: James 6 Feb 1819 d 1894 : Christian (2) b 18 Jul 1821 : then Timothy followed by Agnes 1826: Thomas c 1829 d 1914 : Elizabeth 1832  1893: William 1833 and  Mary 1837.

My 2x GGF Thomas Hopper 29 Oct 1801 d 28 Jul 1879 is a half brother to Elizabeth Hopper, above

Same Family as my Husbands. I have a list of children, but not all the marraiges but Timothy was single, died 1876 in Edinburgh. Marraiges I have are James to Agnes Thorburn, Mary to James Pennycook, Agnes to John Stirling

Thomas 1827 to Janet Dickson on 18 Jun 1850 in Dalkeith
Elizabeth 1832 to Alexander Dickson on 25 Sep 1849 in Dalkeith

Hi JB,
I think it was John Wightman who married Elizabeth Hopper.
Timothy b. 6/12/1791 died 1830 in Dalkeith. Unmarried as far as I know.

It has been a long time but eventually you get round to looking at information that you collect , even from 5 years ago.
My connection is John Wightman (1789-1862) who married Elizabeth Hopper (1794 -1863), who was my 2 x grandfather's half-sister.
they shared the same father, Thomas Hopper 1754 - 1820.
Elizabeth's mother was Christian Matthewson c1760-1796, whilst Thomas's mother was Janet Middlemas 1765- ?
I am trying to fill in more of the Wightman family, so any info would be appreciated
