I dont think there would be that many churches in Castlecomer town ... as far as I can see in the 1880s, just 3 : Church of Ireland, Roman Catholic and Wesleyan Chapel.

There are several RC and CofI churches in outlying areas - Clough, Freshford, Ballyragget, Lisdowney etc

Do you know the name of a priest/minster of the church martin attended ?

I realise this is an old post and Grumyourmaud has not been on rootschat since 2013.

The name of the R.C. church in Castlecomer is Church of the Immaculate Conception.  This is the church to which John Healy was appointed organist by Dr. John Kelly.  This information taken from book "Castlecomer Connections" by Tom Lyng     page 49

"Dr John Kelly appointed John Healy organist for his new organ and at the same time appointed him as  primary teacher in Smithstown old school"

Thats very likely to be the same John Healy as Ballyhimmin (various spellings) is near Castlecomer.

Hi

I'm doing a family tree and I think I might have a bloodline to Catherine Drennan John's wife. I found the grave on Sunday it's right behind the church I will send you a picture of it if you like.
