Featherstons of High Rigg, St John's Chapel
« on: Sunday 04 April 10 10:59 BST (UK) »
I am trying to sort out the seemingly hundreds of Featherstons in St John's Chapel, Weardale in the 18th and 19th century.  I am focusing on High Rigg (presumably a lead miners cottage) - I would be interested to know if anyone else is looking at this so we could share the brain ache!

Hi steffers, welcome to RootsChat.  :D

You might need to ask for some specific information here.
There are lot of very helpful folk on here, we are very willing to help but we are also very busy.
If you have a few names and dates narrowed down to a couple of decades rather than a couple of centuries, we can get something solid going.

Good luck,
Leonie.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat, you might have more luck if you post on the Durham board. I also have ancestors from the St Johns Chapel area so you have my sympathy as I know how tricky they are to unravel.

Not sure if you are still looking for information on this, but my wife's mother was a Featherstone and was born in Canada.  Her GG grandfather lived at High Rigg.  We recently visited Weardale and found the farmhouse which has been converted.
