Samuel Warren is also my gt-grandfather via another son of Sam and Ada - Edward Henry. I had hit a brick wall until I found your post, and a lot of pieces fell into place. EH was my grandfather, and I can fit him to all of the names in the post, with supporting documents. He also lived in Nottingham after Army service, which is why he is hard to reconcile with census data. Happy to share info, especially with any family members.

Regards, Andrew

Hi Andrew
Glad to hear from you. I'd not found Edward Henry in my searches. He hadn't appeared on the 1901 census with Ada & her 2nd husband, John Brown ... only my gt grandfather, Joseph Isaac & 2 brothers born in Hawick, so it would be great to share info. You replied to my entry on curious fox also, which may be easier for sharing files, etc. I'll post a reply there too.
Thanks
