Hiya Mable,

Basically anyone with the name Fogg/Fog. There shouldnt be that many as the family sort of drifted there from Newark before going to Yorkshire.

If there are too many please let me know. I am very grateful to you for making this offer.

Thanks.

There should be more than this. Joseph Fogg and George Fogg in 1871 census both state that they were born Weston. Joseph was 1811 and its really him and his family I am after -any ideas ?

Can I just ask the source of your findings ?

Thankyou very much,
Fizzy

Hi Fizzy,

Sure. The source is the Notts Family History Society index to baptisms which I assume is the source Mable also has, as the numbers correspond. First time round I didn't try the spelling Fogge - so here is an amended list :)

Heather you are a genius. Thankyou so much.

I would have expected an obvious alternative spelling to be FOG as you cant get much simpler than that !!!!!

Brill brill brill and much appreciated.

Big hugs,
Fizzy

I'm no genius ... it's thanks to the patient transcribers of Notts FHS :)

Can't see anything for your John Fogg who married Mary T. However my instinct says that a good place to start looking would be Sutton on Trent (the next village).
My index only has baptisms for Sutton from 1845 but, according to some submitted records on the IGI, there were Foggs there in the mid 1700's.

Might be useful to see if anyone has the Notts burial disk to try and put an age on John ... also if mable (or anyone else) could see if they were still around in 1841

Good luck! Heather
