Dear Garfydd

I am descendant of Thomas Thomas and Mary James of Gwernwyddog, from their youngest son David Thomas bn 1834, and his son David Thomas who mar Margaret Howells of Pont ar hydfer.

I read with interest the stories of Morgan Thomas and Rachel Charles - and would be fascinated to read about Thomas Thomas of Pwlluchaf - can you point me to your article ?

D.T.=Margaret Howells had 11 children most at Tynewydd, M.T.  Known as "teulu Thomas Tyglas" have a copy of the photo.  A kinsman of yours has been contact Howell John Thomas. Try Google for Raymond Humphreys/Pwlluchaf. I lice the Welch spelins on this topik sumari.

Thanks for your information.  The origin of the Tyglas name was, according to my Great Uncle and my father, derived from a house that the family lived in with blue windows - but I think it is more likely to come from the Hamlet name of Traiangleas.  Do you know anything of it's origins?

I think your data on Mary Price is convincing (I found other roots chat threads by someone named 'Gadget' and 'Margaret Davies', and I found your Patrynomics article on the web). I took the name James from a list of Mothvey families on Genuki.  I have now assimilated Mary Price's parents and siblings in to my tree, taken from the family tree of 'Iwan1Noah2' on Ancestry.co.uk.

I am also interested in the Howells family where the father John was blacksmith at Pont ar hydfer.  I have found them on the censuses - and have just been given a contact address for a living relative which I will follow up.

I am descended from David Thomas and Margaret Howells. On their marriage certificate, David's father was given as David Thomas (born 1834). He was son of Thomas Thomas and Mary. Who was David Thomas' (junior) mother? He was born around 1855 but I can't find a birth certificate. Was he illegitimate?

Thanks for such a quick reply!
So, did David Thomas (born 1834) marry Rachel Jones? If you have any further information on her, I'd be grateful. Any marriage or birth certificate details?
My great granny was called Rachel Ann Thomas, daughter of the David born about 1855 and of Margaret Howells. I have some photos of her and some of her sisters and brothers. Are you a descendant of one of them?
