Stronach

My 3xGreat Greandmother was Elizabeth Stronach who was born at Edenkillie, Scotland [source 1851 Census ] She married Robert Bilney in 1816 at St Sepulchre, London and one of the witnesess at the marriage was a Margaret Bilney.
On the Scottish OPR there is a birth which I think is hers; 18 Sep 1785 at Elgin    James Stronach Younger, farmer in Murryhall(?Muriehall) & Isabel Russell his spouse had a child baptised called Elizabeth. Witness James Lee, James Laing, Alex. Allan, Elizabeth Douglas and Elizabeth grant.
From the IGI I have found the following Siblings;

James : Christening: 11 FEB 1776  Elgin, Moray, Scotland
Janet: Christening: 26 MAR 1778  Elgin, Moray, Scotland

Alexander:Christening: 18 JUL 1783  Elgin, Moray, Scotland
Jean : Christening: 27 APR 1788  Elgin, Moray, Scotland
James: Christening: 30 APR 1790  Elgin, Moray, Scotland
John; Christening: 09 AUG 1792  Elgin, Moray, Scotland
Can any one help with any info on this family

Don't jump to the conclusion that Edenkillie is a misrecording of Elgin. The parish of Edinkillie is a separate parish south of Forres in the county of Moray, not Banffshire.

Hello, i just read the details about your 3x Grandmother and I am not sure if it is correct.  I have the following Information:
Alexander Stronach married Isabel Grant
had a daughter Margaret who married James Sharp their son John married Margaret Hay, Margaret's parents were John Hay and Marjory Laing b abt 1706 Her parents were Alexander Laing and Lillias Hay.
I have Alexander Paul married Isabel Russel in 1717 which is my family line.  Not sure if there is a connection however it was the surnames of the witnesses James Laing and Elizabeth Grant that attracted my attention.  Good luck.

The line you describe is in my family tree.  Alexander Paul b1688  is my 6th great grandfather, William Mackie Paul b1874 is my 4th cousin three times removed.

I'm looking for story behind his travels from Scotland to Australia.   Do you have any insights?
