Glyn Farm

I am tracing our family history from Wales to Australia and I'm trying to find out when our family left Glyn Farm and if possible, why. We think Mary Ann Ellen ARNOLD ( 1850 - 1931) and her husband William HERBERT of Pennalt lived there with their son Henry Glynn Herbert (1892 -1956) but we can't find why or when they left. Can anyone help?

Hello

There are 3 Glynn Farms listed in Monmouth and all within a few km's of each other
they are at Redbrook, Trelleck & Llandogo.

There are Herberts at each of the above locations but not determined as farming.

Thanks. i think because I'm knew I can't use PM yet. I'm not sure if the Herberts there are still part of the family but I'm assuming they are. The side of the family that held the farm was from Mary Arnold. So we don't know if the farm was sold when she married or if something else happened. As for the area of the farm, we know it was near a priory or had an abbey as part of the land. And we have documents with the name Llangattock Lingoed on them. I've not been to the area so I'm not sure if this helps. Thanks for your post.

Llangattock Lingoed is in the Abergavenny district but no Arnold (or Herbert ) are listed in
Llangattock Lingoed, however there are a small number of Arnold in near proximity, in the
villages of Govilon & Pandy.

Thanks again. Ok so we've looked at a map that seems to give directions onto the Glyn Farm from our family. Its says through Trellock, past Redbrook, down Lone Lane to Glyn Farm. Does that make any sense? This is difficult to do from Australia so i do appreciate your help. We think they may have had soemthing to do with the Llanthony Priory too but unsure.

The surname Herbert & Arnold show in Trellech in the 2008 electoral roll.

William Herbert had a older brother named Thomas Rowland Herbert and he was my GGGgrandfather. He was the oldest son of Isaac Herbert and would have inherited the Upper and Lower Glyyn Farms in Pennalt from his father Isaac but he left to the USA in 1852 and while miggrating to Utah he suddenly died in Council Bluffs Iowa. Thomas Rowlands family continued to UTAH, USA and that is where I was born. His and Williams father Isaac Herbert died in 1869 leaving the farm to his youngest son and wife. after she died I lost track of William and his part of the family. While looking through some old record of my great aunt I found a small piece of papper that said William to Aus 1876 with a question mark. I recently moved back to NSW, Australia where my wife is from and started my research again finding info linking the family down to Henry Glynn Herbert and today while sitting at a Family history fair decided to google his name because I couldn't find anything anywhere else. Well I found your post and here I am. My name is Ryan Luke Herbert.
