Griffiths Valuation

  Hi All

I have checked out the Griffiths Valuation Index at my local library and now have an idea where I am headed with ancestors in King's County and Cavan.
Is there anywhere that I can get more information without having to pay?
Don't want to be a 'cheap skate' but I really do object to paying for information that our ancestors gave for free.
Any advice??

Thought I would reply as I have had some experience with Irish research myself.

With regards to the Griffiths Valuations the only site I know of is a pay per view one through: http://www.irishorigins.com/

I have also found this site of use when it comes to surname distribution in Ireland. http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm

Thanks for that. I have checked out the sites you suggested - they are now in my favourites.
Can you tell me what information I will gain by going further into the Griffiths Valuations as I know it is not a census?
