Thank you Graham for that update. That's my man. He was disabled and raised by his paternal aunt and uncle.

Pat was my undergraduate supervisor for a project we were required to do. I still have his book on Tutorial Questions which he wrote in 1959 when Aston uni was called a College of Advanced Technology. He was a bit of a reclusive figure and I always wondered where he got his degrees from. He had contacts with Glasgow and Aberystwyth universities.

I would be interested in any information you are happy to share which would throw some light on a rather forgotten figure.

Best wishes

Graham

Hi Bryan and Graham,
I'm Mazzys mum who posted earlier.  Thankyou Graham for remembering our Uncle Pat, he truly was a unique character :)
He raised me with my mum from when I was 6wks old, early 1958 in Glasgow.   They both fostered me and I couldn't have wished for better parents.
He would work at Aston in Birmingham from Mon - Fri and get the train home on a Friday after work.  I was blessed for him to give me away at my wedding and for him to see his 2 grand daughters before he passed away.  He was heartbroken when he had to retire but got himself a little part time role at Glasgow Uni when he took ill and passed away at Gartnavel Hospital from Addisons Disease and T.B.
Bryan, you're right about his mum passing away from influenza....his Aunt Esther and Uncle Monty raised him.  Mum and him were so happy when his brother Tonys daughter Grace visited them in Glasgow.  As my daughter previously said Mum and Uncle Pat are buried together at Lambhill Cemetery in Glasgow.  God bless them.  If you'd like anymore information or photo's please do not hesitate to contact me. :)

Hi Mary,

It is some time since I posted my memories of Pat and so many details of his time at Aston University has been lost. Chemistry is longer taught there and all my lecturers have long since retired or died.

If you have a photograph of Pat when he was still at Aston I would be most grateful.

Best wishes

I would be most interested if you had a photo of Pat taken in the 1960's.

Best wishes

I'm getting an old hand at this now :)  I thought you might like to see one of him when he graduated and one of him with mum :)  I could show you hundreds from when he was a young boy, also some of him giving me away at my wedding and others of him with his grand daughters whom he adored !  If you would like some more just let me know
