Eighteen historic newspapers going back as far as 1769 were made available today. The site was launched today with 19,000 pages of digitized newspaper content available for public viewing. The newspapers are part of the collections from the archives in Halifax and the Beaton Institute in Cape Breton as well as from other libraries and private donations.

I am quite excited about this and look forward to reading all the pages over the next several months. I am hoping that other newspapers will eventually be added.
