Macken/Mackin's of Ringsend or Irish Town
« on: Monday 26 April 10 21:44 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any info on the Macken or Mackin family from Ringsend or Irish town from around the 1880's.

this seems such an unusual name...

do you have the marriage cert ?

that would give you Margaret's father's name and occupation, which should help find the correct family.

I had a look through the Thom's directories for the later 1880s/early 1890s but I dont see any Maken households listed in Irishtown or Ringsend, but not everyone is included in these listings. It depends on the type of trade/occupation they had and also type of house they lived in.

See the topic 2 Minute Introduction to Irish Records for details on searching the BMD index, ordering certs etc - note the familysearch index is not working correctly at the moment, so it's probably best to give them a day or two to sort it out, before trying any serious searching.

p.s. the Registration district for Ringsend/Irishtown is Dublin South (this will be mentioned on the BMD index)
