Thanks puzzlnut,

I thought there might be new information for you if it wasn't your tree.

Sorry.

Hi - another possible piece of the jigsaw

I saw that Joseph Rothwell is referred to as the 'late' Joseph Rothwell in 1869 at Alices marriage,  and noted the marriage in 1870 of Sarah Rothwell to James Fox - I have now been able to confirm from Family search

Sarah Rothwell
  Father:  Thomas Seddon
Marriages:
  Spouse:  James Fox
  Marriage:  01 JAN 1870   Colaba-Bombay, Maharashtra, India

I have found this couple back in England in 1891 & 1901 in Monk Bretton

If you could locate a will for Sarah (if she left one)  it might confirm the names of her children,  though of course as Fanny was already dead it might not mention her.  I wonder if Joseph left a will

DebbieG

More interesting stuff.  I looked on FIBIS after receiving your post and saw Amelia, Alice, William Henry and Augusta who have to be siblings.  And yet more Rothwells which might or might not fit in.  Fanny fits right in there, though,  doesn't she?  Now I'm wondering if she is an Ann given all the other girls have names beginning with A!  I hadn't really paid attention to Sarah but now realize this is her remarriage.  Will look at FIBIS again later today.

I've been trying to tie Henry Jepson's second wife, Ellen Ford, to Fanny's family and might have some leads now.  Ellen's mother was Martha Seddon, born 1821 and I found a birth record for a Martha Seddon with parents Thomas Seddone and Emma, 1821, Sheffield on familysearch.org.  So she and Emma might be sisters and Fanny and Ellen might be the cousins that my family tells me they were.  I'll keep digging.

Thanks!

Oh well done on finding that birth reocrd for Martha,  I looked and I couldn't see it,  but it fits right in with Thomas & Emma who were parents of Sarah,  I found they also had

Christopher 1816 Greasborough
Samuel 1823 Sheffield
Henry 1825 Thurlstone
Sarah 1830 Cawthorne
Hannah 1832 CAwthorne

Terrific stuff, DebbieG

Just got home to find this little goldmine waiting for me.  Thanks so much.  I find it amusing, though, that "seeking Fanny Rothwell" in the Lancashire forum - because that's where Henry Jepson came from - all the information leads to Yorkshire!  Looking at the rest of her family (supposed) I imagine he met her in India.  Another mature husband, young bride, like Augusta and Arthur.

Where did you get all the birth records?  And now seeing a Hannah in the Siddon/Seddon family, I'm wondering if Fanny can be a nickname for that.  Back to digging!

I'm really late to join this and unfortunately I have no information on Fanny Rothwell but you've been talking about Joseph and Sarah Rothwell who were my Great great grandparents! Their son William Henry was my Great grandfather and he married Alice Jupe. However my Granny (Amelia Rothwell) married Henry Archer Haire who was the son of Arthur William Rothwell Haire and I think they were cousins!

Absolutely fascinating - thank you!
