Edgar and Edith Watson - Scotland to Jamaica
« on: Friday 30 April 10 16:13 BST (UK) »
Edgar Watson was born in Edmonton, London in 1900 to George Gray Watson and Helen Taylor Edgar who were both originally from the Moray and Banff areas of Scotland.

We know that the family moved back up to Scotland in around 1905 and  we have seen a photograph of a commemorative stone in Fochabers, Scotland which details the names of his wife and 3 living daughters. The stone also tells us that Edgar died in 1974 and his wife Edith died in 1972 in Jamaica. It appears that Edgar had moved to Jamaica however we have no other information.

If anyone is able to help us I'd be really grateful.

Kit.

Hi ShaunJ

Thank you very much :D.  You've confirmed some of the information we had (children's names) but given us a lot more to go on.  Have had a quick look for daughter's births in England and Scotland but can't find anything solid as we don't know Emma Edith's maiden name.

What resource have you used to find out all the information?

Kit

I found the Watson family arriving in UK from Kingston (via Montreal) in June 1939, so the children could well have been born overseas. UK destination address given as 11 Victoria Road West Kirby.

That address in West Kirby belonged to a Leslie Tucker in the late 1930's and 1940's.

Will send a PM re sources.

Leslie Tucker (born circa 1875) and wife Aimee Harriet (circa 1877) travelled to Jamaica several times from 1935.

Leslie Tucker married Amy Harriet Beedle in 1900

In the 1911 census ( to which I do not have a subscription or credits) an index search shows Leslie Tucker aged 36 with wife Aimee Harriet aged 32 in Birkenhead. They appear to have two one son and 7 daughters including Emma Edith Tucker aged 3. There is also a possible sibling William Kington Tucker (circa 1878)

So there is your Edith !
