Hull Sanatorium

My grandma and great aunt (Annie and Ivy Biggins) were on the Dyptheria ward of Hull Sanatorium when the 1911 census was taken.

I am visiting Hull on 4th/5th May (next Tues and Wed) with my mum and hoping to visit as many places as we can that are linked to the family.

Does Hull Sanatorium still exist? On the census it is described as "standing back from Hedon Road near Hull and Withernsea railway". If it is no longer there does anyone know where the site is and what is there now.

The Hull sanatorium that was on Hedon Road later became the Hull maternity hospital (where I had my first baby). The building was demolished a few years ago.
If you look at  http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=511832&y=429244&z=110&sv=hedon+road&st=6&tl=Map+of+Hedon+Road,+HU9&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf  the hospital stood a little to the left of the Holderness drain. The Hedon Road cemetery is sandwiched between Hull prison on one side and the hospital on the other.

Thank you  for your helpful information. Unfortunately I did not make it to Hull as I was ill. I am making arrangements for a future visit as soon as poss.
