Sounds like you're giving up!

"being born abt. 1785" means what?  NOTHING!

While Familysearch is good, as such, it is very far from accurate. I'm not criticizing them but very often they are way off with their guesses.

Forget about the person and work on the property he owned if any. Gets you back another 100 years.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

While researching my family I thought the handwritten immigration record said "Coothill, Co Monaghan".  I have since found out that the location was "Coolkill" and found them in the townland of Coolkill East, Co Monaghan. Anniebelle

Not giving up Hallmark, sent you a pm. I will have to slow down as my wife is due our second child in three weeks time. But I love the detective work required and if I proved a link to that Duffy pedigree I'd be over the moon.

I thought our family was the only one having trouble with Cootehill.

Word has it that James Harrison and Frances Phillips had children born in Cootehill, Monaghan Goire.  Well there is no Monaghan Goire.  Goire means near in Gaelic.  The answer for our Harrison family at least is that Cootehill is "near" County Monaghan, but in County Cavan.

My dad was born in Cootehill near East Knockbride in County Cavan and is from a long line of Duffys in that area. His father was Patrick Duffy the postman of Drumeague born in 1898 and his father was Thomas Duffy of Skeagh who married Catherine McDermott.
