Just been looking on internet and found Library and Archives of Canada (www.collectionscanada.gc.ca)  where you can search immigration records for free AND see the image free as well!
Think I've found yours in the Quebec City Passenger Lists Index 1865 - 1900

Ship SS POLYNESIAN. Arrival date 4/8/1883
1.     EYLES, Annie    13        1883
2.    EYLES, Benjamin    46    1883
3.    EYLES, Catherine    45    1883
4.    EYLES, Emily    11       1883
5.    EYLES, Maria    17            1883
6.    EYLES, Minnie    4            1883
7.    EYLES, Wm    9            1883

Maria and Annie are on a different page to the others, and have a different ticket number to them as well.

Good evening Annie,

You've been of very great help ! I've followed up your lead and had a look at the lists - in fact I'd found this site before but obviously didn't know what to look for or how to go about it.

Many thanks for your time and trouble ! Wonderful stuff.

Nick

Hi Nick,
I missed this old Eyles message. Benjamin and Catherine Eyles are 2G grandparents of mine.
If you have any remaining questions I should know the answers.

Good evening Dave,

Many thanks for picking up this old message of mine from a few years back. I apologise for my late reply, but genealogy has been on a back burner recently and I needed to get my head back into it !

Looking back on my records, the question I have at this stage is what happened to Catherine in the end ? I have recorded now the emigration details from 1883, but her death is still something I don't have registered. Can you help me on this one please ? Date ? Where ? etc.

In case you are wondering, Catherine's grandfather, John Layfield b.1706, is my 5 x GGrandfather !
It's pretty distant, but explains the connection.

Looking forward to hearing back when you have a moment.

Best wishes,

Nick

Hi Nick,
Catherine (Layfield) Eyles died June 20, 1890 at New Westminster, British Columbia.  Her death does not seem to be registered in the BC Archives records but there is a picture of her grave on Ancestry.  Her daughter and my great grandmother Maria Eyles married David Dixon Burnett at Mattawa, Ontario,September 19, 1885, so the Eyles family had not been in British Columbia for long before Catherine died.  I have quite a bit about the Burnett/Eyles/Layfield families which I will try to send you before Christmas.  Catherine's sister Elizabeth Layfield, born march 26, 1823, is also part of my family.

Good morning Dave,
Thanks very much for your rapid response. Most grateful. It's always a satisfaction to find the answer to a question, even from 7 years ago !
I would be very interested in the other family information when you have the time - thank you for offering. If I can possibly be of any help with the Layfield side I would be happy to give you what I have on record.

Hi Nick,
I have additional Layfield/Eyles information which I think could be more appropriately discussed off forum.
