Williams - Much Wenlock
« on: Saturday 26 March 05 15:06 GMT (UK) »
My great-grandfather was Thomas WILLIAMS. My father thinks he was born in Much Wenlock. He married Patience Violet JONES in 1907. I thought I'd found him on the 1881 and 1891 censuses - the birthdate and place tied up. The father's name was given as John WILLIAMS. However, today I received the marriage certificate for Thomas WILLIAMS and Patience Violet JONES, which gives Thomas WILLIAMS'S father as Thomas WILLIAMS. Is it at all possible that a mistake could have been made on the marriage certificate? I've failed in all my attempts to track down a definite birth certificate reference for Thomas WILLIAMS and frankly I don't really know what to do next! Any suggestions gratefully received, as I'm really at a dead end here :-/

Absolutely ANYTHING is possible Helen!   I would suggest you check the information in the marriage certificate against the original Parish Register.

Good luck.

I have Ann Kidson bap 1705 Benthall marrying Edward Cynor in 1730 Much Wenlock in my tree. Her father was John Kitson / Gidson also a pipemaker. He may have married Maria Rooden (Roden?) in 1700 in Much Wenlock. Have more info if these are yours.

you should be able to get Catherine as she was born in oswestry don't know if the rest would have to be register when they returned  but on the TV program who do you think you are one of the TV stars descended were born in India and they were kept in the local towns, why don't you do a search for government dept in India from that town and send them an email you might get lucky and pointed in the right direction as a lot of Indian have English as a second language
