Hi Wendy

Not the answer you were expecting

From the marriage register St Giles in the Field

10th September 1849

Charles Bond, full age, bachelor, Labourer, of Broad Street, father - Bond, Wheelwright

Jemima Adams, full age, spinster, no occ, of Broad Street, father Jonas Adams, Cooper

Married after banns, both signed the register in the presence of Jonas Adams and Mary Ann or Mary Jane something, can't decipher.

Hope this helps.

Hi  Dawn    Thanks so much for going to find out that for me.

I may be a bit thick  but how are you sure that Jemima is the correct  "wife"  I know that the date and place are correct though.

Is that the only Charles marrying then?   Is that it?
It says that Charles's father was a wheelwright   where I had him as a butcher as on his other sons info.

I went to the archives and looked at the actual page of the marriage register on microfilm.

No you didn't as you don't have a copy of the certificate

On that page of the register, there are 4 marriages, he is the only Charles as shown in Valda's reply #3

Maybe this is not "your" Charles Bond

Hi Valda,  Thanks for your reply,

Yes you have the correct man in each census.
He was married three times.  The only bit I don't agree with  is the last bit  about an alternative  baptism .

Hi

Considering the two Marylebone baptisms merely list father John as in trade which of course could just as easily be wheelwright as butcher do you have any other evidence that connects John the butcher born Marylebone to the 1819 baptism as opposed to the John in 1851 also born in Marylebone who is equally, in age, spot on for the baptism?

Hi,   Valda    I know my John married 3 times but he didn't marry an Anne.   I have all three of his marraige certificates  which state both John and his father were butchers.

I have also found him in the London  birth's and baptisms pages.

Hi

Your John Bond didn't marry an Ann but the other John Bond born Marylebone circa 1819 (from the 1851 census) did. He equally could be the brother of Charles Bond - father a wheelwright not a butcher, born Marylebone circa 1823.

Both the 1819 and the 1823 baptisms merely state that the father John's occupation was trade which could be a trading butcher or a trading wheelwright etc.

Sorry to jump onto this thread and bump it back up, but Jemima Adams is my direct maternal ancestor, so am quite excited to find this! I would love to know more about her family, it's a shame her mother Mary Ann's surname was indeciperable. Would the marriage cert provide any further info? I won't bother if it's a waste of money as I'm on a budget (new baby).

Many thanks
