Deported from USA 1894

Help!

My Polish gt-grandmother, Rebecca Krakowski and her children, Barnet, Annie, Leah and Woolf seem to have "emigrated" to the USA in June 1894 to meet Rebbecca's husband, Joe/Jacob who was supposedly in New York at the time.  They travelled on the SS Southwark to Philadelphia from Liverpool.  However, they re-appear, minus Joe/Jacob in the 1901 Census back in London, England.  I assume Rebecca must have met Jacob/Joe as another younger child appears on the 1901 Census.

Where can I find the boat records for their return journey to the UK - and, if they were thrown out of the USA on arrival, where can I find these records too?

Many thanks for any help anyone can give - much appreciated.

My gt-grandmother, Rebecca Krakowsky and her children, Barnet, Annie, Leah and Woolf sailed from Liverpool to Philidelphia on the SS Southwark in June 1894 to meet with Rebecca's husband, Joe/Jacob in New York.

Woolf was just a few months old when they sailed and yet it seems that barely two years later Rebecca had given birth back in London, England.

If Rebecca and her children were sent back to the UK shortly after arriving in America

a) are there any records that might say when/why she was deported?
b) are there any records as to which boat she may have been on if she were to be deported, or if she came back of her own accord at some point shortly after?

I believe, given that Rebecca later gave birth, that she must have met her husband in America - yet he does not appear on the 1901 Census with her, which makes me wonder if she came back to the UK without him, or if he subsequently died before 1901.

Many thanks for any help.

Is there a particular reason you think they were deported?

I've seen it written on the manifest when people were turned away at the port, but I don't see anything like that on your ancestors' manifest.  I didn't see any matches for them on a UK return passenger list, but maybe someone else will find something.

Thanks for your reply.  It just seems strange, as they were a very Jewish poor family, that they would make such a long trip only to return within a year or so.
