I saw this also - the chipper they interviewed mentioned a specific valley or town.. but dont remember how he described it.

It was on the Six-one news - I think Monday, promoting National Fish & Chip day. He also mentioned something about an Irish association of 'Real Italian Chippers' ... they might be able to help

Hi Guy's, yep VALLE DI COMINO is the right place, my family " MACARI" come from a village called CASALATTICO which is part of this region. I know that my Grandparent's were cousin's and had to get approvel from the pope so that they could marry. To marry like this was not a strange thing to the Italian's at that time ( if they were still living in Italy )  and it was a shock for them when the Church of Ireland told them that they would have to seek approval. The Family started out on one side as Macari and they were Cervi on the other but as I mentioned it was spelt arse about and so its hard to do a search .Thx for the link AMBYRNE1 , I will go on and have a listen as you just never know.

Cheers guys and remember keep the info coming. I has sent a message off to Mount Jermone so fingers crossed.

Hello to all you researchers out there. I was hoping that someone may be able to find some information for me. I would love to be able to do this myself but I in Australia and so I am depending on kind IRISH hearts out there. I am searching for anything on the MACARI FAMILY. Yes as you can tell it was not too common a name as we are Italian descent so I am hoping this surname will stand out. If anyone could tell me how best to go about getting their birth certs , would I have to order them from Belfast and if so could you please advise me of the best place to order from

MARCO Macari  Born in Belfast 1905                          ROSALINA Cervi     Born in Belfast 1906

Bye for now Waiting in hope. ???

...If anyone could tell me how best to go about getting their birth certs.....

MARCO Macari  Born in Belfast 1905                          ROSALINA Cervi     Born in Belfast 1906

....

You can search the Irish Civil BMD Index on familysearch to look for references needed to order certs. I had a look for Marco Macari born around 1905, and the only one I see listed around that time in Ireland was born in Dublin in 1904. I dont see anything promising for Rosalina either, but it's possible that their Italian names might have been misunderstood and misspelt in the index, so it would be worth a further search using various alternate spellings.

Have you found the family on the 1911 Irish census ? This should confirm their counties of birth, age etc

see the topic : Introduction to Irish Records for details on searching the index, ordering certs etc

I will go have a look, I reckon that it must be my MARCO as there couldn't have been too many more.
As for the name being spelt wrong, we are having no end of issue's.

Thx Bren
